Limitless Pill – Phosphatidylserine Review

Overview

Most of the people who have seen Limitless went online to check if the limitless pill actually exists. At least I know that I did. When talking about nootropics there is no such thing as a magic pill. But there might be one with a great potential to rank very high among other nootropic substances.

Phosphatidylserine is a fatty acid which is present in the human body. A good part of it makes the fat cells in our body, there are currently 50-60 grams present in your cells as you read this post.

Roughly, half of it is concentrated in our brain’s neurons or more specifically in the neuron’s membrane. This substance has been used as a nootropic supplement since the 90’s, the main source which is used to extract it from is soy.

We consume phosphatidylserine from the food we eat, it’s highly consisted in fish

Phosphatidylserine Review

Phosphatidylserine is concentrated in the brain as it helps with cognitive functioning. It also may contribute to lowering cortisol level. Cortisol is produced by the adrenal gland and is known as the stress hormone. The production of this hormone is the response of the adrenal gland to low blood-glucose level and stress.

Although it can enter our system from food or a specified diet, the brain needs additional nutrition and it is beneficiary to consume it as a supplement as well.

Benefits of Phosphatidylserine

  • It might improve symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is a form of dementia, most cases (roughly 60%-80%) of dementia result in Alzheimer’s disease. Taking Phosphatidylserine might improve will improve brain cell communication, but it’s not a cure for Alzheimer’s. This disease is not a normal result of aging but the risks increase as the human ages, most of the people who have it are over 65 years of age.

It is also possible to have an early-onset of Alzheimer’s disease when significantly younger than 65 which is know as early onset of the disease.

Whether being acute or clinical depression, we all know how this affects one’s functioning. This disease impacts your emotional state and alters how you feel about certain things, even about life in general. At some point, people suffering from depression don’t even know if life is worth living.

Most cases of depression are caused by restricted blood flow in some brain areas.  Omega 3 reduces blood flow and affects phosphatidylserine levels in the brain. So, most of the depression cases origin from the lack of these two substances.

Phosphatidylserine can lower the severity of any type of depression, research has shown that it affects neurotransmitters related to mood. Patients who took phosphatidylserine for 30 days have been able to combat their depression’s severity.

  • Improvement of athletic performance

Back in 2007, there was a study conducted on golf players, the improvements were not that significant but changes were present. Taking phosphatidylserine for just under two months daily, the stress levels of the players reduced. The number of good tee-off shots also increased.

  • Slows down cognitive decline originating from aging

Some studies conducted on elderly patients proved that PS can improve mood, cognition and cognitive decline based on aging. They treated patients for two weeks with placebo pills, after switching to PS treatment for 30 days there were significant results. They all tolerated the substance well.

Is Phosphatidylserine A Potential Limitless Pill?

As stated previously in the overview, NZT or the limitless pill does not exist. It was purely made up for the purpose of making the movie interesting. If you are browsing online for the one pill that will make you a better version of yourself, you might be on the wrong track. Yes, similar substances do make you more aware, elevate your focus, but it is not close enough to the things Bradley Cooper was able to do in the movie.

Another name used for phosphatidylserine is shortly PS, and it definitely sheds some light on being something similar to the limitless pill.

You can read about similar substances such as adrafinil on this link.
